" http://www.mediaed.org Jean Kilbourne's award-winning video offers an in-depth analysis of how female bodies are depicted in advertising images and the devastating effects of those images on women's health. Addressing the relationship between these images and the obsession of girls and women with dieting and thinness, Slim Hopes offers a new way to think about life-threatening eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, and a well-documented critical perspective on the social impact of advertising. Slim Hopes is a lively and engaging program suitable for a wide range of audiences at high schools, colleges and universities. Using over 150 ads, it informs as it entertains, allowing viewers to build an analytic framework for considering the impact of advertising on women's health. "

of course your view is not wrong, i mean I work in the Fashion Business. But I can tell you that the most Girls there are Natural Thin and the Goals are not impossible. I mean I see that Girls in my Work time. And you cant deny that People all over the World become fat. For Germany for Example 51% of the Women and 66% Men are overweight. So to be realistic fat is more than thin People, but of course to thin is a Problem too. Look the statistic and i guess you will see.

There is no panic and this womans opinion is not a lie...The concern (and the point she is making) is that the media is setting impossible goals that make the majority of women feel inadequate. This in turn causes eating disorders and the desire to mutilate ones own body through plastic surgery. If anyone thinks this is a positive way of inspiring the obese to lose weight. Think again.

dont understand the panic here, the Humans in the Western countries become fatter and fatter. Now Acting here like the TV tell us to be thin, is a lie to urself. Most of us are overweight, even with watching commercials. Get real with yourself People.

"80% of 10 yr old girls on diets" dat is f-in disgustin! the media plays a big part in this whole "slim is beautiful" kinda thing but it has alot to do with girls' self-esteem as well! I'm a girl i feel sick wen i see an anorexic girl or just a stick thin girl, i cant see how anyone can find that sexy! i'm 17, bout 5ft1 weigh bout 6:10, size 8 (6 sumtimes)i dont TRY to b dat weight, i just am, i used to b a chubby baby but i do ALOT of sports. girls just need to realise wot's important!

Yes, I agree with you. I am sick of big boobs everywhere! And the surgeons thrive!!!

she was talking about the body type not the body of a woman. Body type is given by your genes, therefore that did not change!

I think Paris Hilton is so-so not great or anything, but just turn the local news on and when they go through the volley ball highlights, those chicks are specifically hot, not because they're underage but because of the clothes they wear... its all in the clothes. Moving aside the point because im fairly intoxicated, I will add that 80's chick are totally un hot, and 90's only so-so, truly I need to seek psychological help, because im making a few discoveries in my thinking.
